What is the CAD design process, and how does it work?
In a CAD supported design process you may start by a 3D conception of your model using MindCAD 3D or you may prefer to sketch on paper and then import that to MindCAD 3D using at that stage the real last (or similar) in which you want to apply your design. After that if you want to produce a digital mockup of your model you may proceed to apply materials and other 3D modeling tools in order to get with a render an almost photorealistic image of your model. But you may also not need that part and go straight away to flattening and then pattern making with our MindCAD 2D. If you have automatic cutting you can also in this stage prepare the parts for cutting optimization. Our Columbia Case Study shows one possible process.

What are the benefits of using CAD design in product development?
The main benefits are when you use it for the conception part is that you get far less errors when going to production. The model is conceived using a specific last and parts are easily derived from it through digital flattening. When changing or adapting a model, say for a different last, the adaptation work is hugely simplified. The precision on parts is under your total control. When complemented.
|
How long does it typically take to complete a CAD design project?
That depends on the part of the pipeline you actually use. But admitting you are starting a fresh new model and want to go from a sketch to a full sample you can do this in about a week. Check the Columbia Case Study for an overview of specific time gains.
|
Can you customize CAD designs to meet specific client needs? Can I design any type of shoe?
With our CAD system you can design any footwear model. One of the things you gain is precisely the capacity to easily modify your designs to suit your client needs.
|
What is the cost associated with the CAD design process?
In order to have a CAD assisted process you must have of course the software licenses. Apart from that it depends on the process you want to implement.
|
How do you ensure the accuracy and quality of CAD designs?
CAD Design tools are precisely strong at ensuring precision and repeatability. The accuracy of the flattening process in its automatic part is assured by thousands of users worldwide.
|
How do you handle confidentiality concerns in CAD design projects?
All the data you produce in our systems is stored locally. We don´t use the cloud or other distributed storage systems. Your designs are as secure as all the material you store in your computers.

What is the price of MindCAD Suite of applications?
MindCAD suite is divided in several independent applications. The price depends on the ones you choose and need for your process. We also have different price models that suit different types of usage. If you are a student, a school or a teacher you are entitled to special conditions, ask us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
|
Can I render inside MindCAD 3D?
Yes you can. MindCAD 3D includes a full blown render that can produce photorealistic images.
|
Is there support for 3D Printing?
Yes there is. Using MindCAD 3D you can export your models in a format that most 3D printer software will be able to print. You may require some tunning depending on the printer you use but results are already very good and are improving fast as technology matures.
|
Can I make patterns for production?
Yes of course, using MindCAD suite you can engineer patterns to be cut at a plotter for standard manual die cutting production or if you have an automatic cutting machine to be cut at that machine. Integration with MindCUT is preferred.
